University lectures?

This story seems to be well-covered in the media today:

"Student leader Wes Streeting wants universities to abolish lectures"

and it's a timely reminder that online learning is gaining ground after years of hype.

The article touches on the Apple education initiatives I reported on from Networkshop. And yet others still champion the personal contact of lectures.

In my experience lectures do indeed range from the deadly dull (just hand the notes out, please) to the inspiring.
